Just heard from a doctor that Pádraig’s third operation in less than two weeks went well and Pádraig is ok. They removed blood effusions, or hemorrhages, from the lung and loosened it up so that it could fully inflate again. – We are waiting outside to see him. Isn’t that great news!
Great!

What good news!!!!!
So happy to hear that Reinhard! Great news. Saying a prayer for him 🙂
Thank you, Claire, for thinking and praying for him.
That’s fantastic news!! Such a relief to hear it all went well 🙂
Isn’t it? All these hours of waiting and not knowing ain’t easy…
Hello, Reinhard. That is indeed great news. Thank you very much for taking the time to share it. May it be a sign of things to come. With best wishes, Louise.
Sounds great.
A song that came to mind thinking of all he has withstood. It starts:
“Have you heard about the big strong man? ”
& the chorus is:
“That was my brother Sylvest’ (What’s he got?)
A row of forty medals on his chest (big chest!)
He killed fifty bad men in the west; he knows no rest.
Think of a man, hells’ fire, don’t push, just shove,
Plenty of room for you and me.
He’s got an arm like a leg (a ladies’ leg!)
And a punch that would sink a battleship (big ship!)
It takes all the Army and the Navy to put the wind up Sylvest’! ”
At least now we’ve something to sing about! Let’s hear it for Padraig!
I liked the swimming bit, Seosamh 🙂
Now, he thought he’d take a trip to Italy.
He thought that he’d go by sea.
He dove off the harbor in New York,
And swam like a great big shark.
He saw the Lusitania in distress.
He put the Lusitania on his chest.
He drank all of the water in the sea,
And he walked all the way to Italy.
(… and then he did the Giro d’Italia cycle tour with Brian:)
Reinhard
Great stuff! I hope you play it for him! Such an achievement for him! Here’s hoping he can get back to his Rehab Regime (aka Schön-Klinik Hamburg Eilbek) as soon as possible, and thence… back to us.
That is just brilliant! Thinking of Padraig all day and wishing him the very best! Thanks so much for sharing Reinhart!
Thank you, Chris! It must be all of your thoughts, prayers, wishes that are helping Pádraig to get through this. – Reinhard
So happy to hear that Reinhard ! I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate what you are doing with this blog. I think about Padraig and your family every day and hope the very best for you in the coming days, weeks, months and years. Sorry I have not been in contact sooner.
All the best,
Andrew (Big P’s roommate from Cape Cod)
Hello Andrew, thank you for your kind message. I know that Big P really really appreciates that all his friends are sticking with him and are supporting him so much during these difficult times. It is such a credit to you that you stay in touch, think of him, send your wishes, and keep him as part of your life although he can’t be with you in person right now. He is so fortunate to have you around, near and far. – Reinhard
